Ground allspice is an aromatic spice made from dried berries of Pimenta dioica, with a strong profile of fiber, manganese, iron, calcium, potassium, magnesium, volatile oils, phenolic acids, flavonoids, tannins, and antioxidant compounds. Its strongest phytochemical identity comes from eugenol, a phenolic compound that gives allspice much of its clove-like aroma.
